Guarantee Trust Corporate Support Services (Pty) Ltd was set up specifically to operate work-readiness programs for Fasset, the Seta for Finance, Accounting, Management Consulting and other Financial Services.

It could be called a Work-Readiness company.

The company focuses on finding good but unemployed accounting graduates and then placing them with accounting firms after thoroughly making them ready for work by providing both so-called soft skills as well as technical accounting skills.

We select, train, place in employment and monitor unemployed accounting graduates and under-graduates into accounting firms.

100% of the company’s focus is skills development and job creation, totally in alignment with Fasset’s strategic objectives and in turn those of the relevant government departments.

The company was formed to deliver programs that create skills and employment, currently focusing on accounting firms.

The company has now expanded its reach to include an AAT SA (Association of Accounting Technicians) program of work-readiness. In this program we select and educate and train matriculants and then place them into accounting firms once qualified with SAICA-supported AAT SA qualifications.

The overall goal of the company is to contribute to the success of the financial services sector of the economy by creating a significant number of successful professional or commercial accountants and bookkeepers who are fully representative of the population mix of South Africa. This would mean that we would assist in achieving these objectives when at least 70% of all accountants in the country are African (Black) with a balanced number of Coloured and Indian accountants as well.

The first program was started in 2003 with 20 unemployed trainees trained. This was followed by:
100 in 2004
300 in 2005
400 in 2006
500 in 2007
500 in 2008
600 in 2009 – in progress currently

Historical placement stats: 90% of all trainees placed in sustainable employment.
