TEACHING AND LEARNING PHILOSOPHY
Graduates of matric or university qualifications have been found to be often short of practical skills that are so much an essential requirement in the workplace.
We have found that numeracy and literacy are serious challenges for many of our graduates who have English as their second language.
We have built into our programs a focus on understanding. If someone understands something completely, that would be the ideal. If the learning environment is geared toward achieving this, then we all win. We insist upon 100% comprehension of all material taught on all our courses. Our exam pass marks are 100%. Although this is possibly initially daunting, it works out in the long-run and all graduates achieve this standard.
The structure of courses, supervision and facilitation is all focused on balancing theory with practical skills and emphasising incessantly the role of full application of what has been learned.
This is why our Virtual Office modules and our entire program have been so successful.
Accounting firms who take on our graduates have staff who can ‘hit the ground running’ so to speak”.
As graduates progress through our program we follow standard quality assurance regimes and add English grammar courses or any other additional material we feel will assist the graduates to be work-ready.
“If it makes them work-ready, it is valid”, is the motto.
The above is why we currently deliver over 78 000 lunches to our graduates per annum to ensure they are ready for the learning process within our academies. We add to this facility a travel allowance to assist learners to arrive and ‘be there’ and not have basic subsistence get in the way of an effectively delivered program.
